Post by vb_master »

I need a source of MAX3232CPE's in the USA. I can't find anyone who supplies them. Can anyone help me?

Does it have to be the CPE or can it have another tag? MAX3232CDR is available on Jameco.

Digikey part no. MAX3232ECPE-ND is what you're looking for.

That is an ECPE which should be completely different from a CPE (note E added on beginning).

I need exactly a CPE, as I do not want to start frying PSPs.

I compared the two chips, they seem pretty much the same, but a ECPE would be overkill.

Sorry, I overlooked the 'E.' What exactly are you trying to do?

I have 3 people who want a PSP serial cable. There might be a way to flash the PSP using the cable. Right now I am making a one-off one for TeamQJ, and I sampled the chip (free) from Maxim. I can't do that again I think.

I need a source incase a way to flash is found, and thus people would be asking me to build the cable for them.

the differece between the 3232 and the 3232E is that the 'E' model is protected against being killed by a static discharge.

here:
http://www.maxim-ic.com/quick_view2.cfm ... ber_search

from there you might find you are able to get free samples of either chip.

(the EPN and CPN versions might also work, they have an identical pin layout, with 2 extra pins)

I already got a MAX3232CPE sample. So you think I can substitute the CPE with the ECPE?

well i quickly skimmed the first 10 pages of each datasheet. there are entire paragraphs that are exactly the same, and the graphs look almost identical. the pinout is also the same.

so yes. i think you could probably use the E. but if you already have the other ones on the way, just use them?
