wood filler and holding frames

Yes it is nice to be able to put your projects INSIDE something isn't it? You know, to hold everything together so it doesn't flop around? Discuss the techniques here!

wood filler and holding frames

Post by minkster »

well I vacuum formed my my first peice to my portable which came out good, except I realized from the extreme temperature in the oven, my holding frame became loose from the adhesive I had holding it together. I decided to use wood filler instead. Would that be enough to withstand it in the oven? Or should I use something else to hold wooden frames together? Thanks-minkster

I held it together with 12 screws and bolts to secure the plastic in between the boards. My problem is that after I vacuum formed the first time, the four pieces of wood that were glued together with a strong automotive glue, became loose from the high temperatures in the oven. so I was wondering if wood filler would be a better alternative. The screws itself don't need any wood filler because they are secure as is.

Will it withstand high temperatures? I've never used epoxy...I have it and it has two tubes...what do you do, just mix it in a bowl or something and apply it to the boards?

Sorry for the noobish questions :?

yep you just mix them in a disposable container and it should be able to withstand several hundred degrees probably
