PS1 screen mod, Resistor placement?

Post by Djsefnet »

Well got my screen taken apart and the LEDS all wired and in place. Im planing on putin the resistor in the plastic lining with the leds wiring but before i do this i remember reading that it gets VERY hot..so i put the 7volts i got to light it up and see if it werks, man that guy was smoking hot! i left it on for about 40sec and i couldnt touch the dam thing..there anyway to get it to not be so hot? im thinking id just have to put the reisitor outside the frame i dont want it to melt the plastic as it seems it would with the temp its reaching..

i tried to search for that post on the heat and resistors i read but alas couldnt find it  also its bout 3am and cant think straight after staying up till bout 6am yesterday doing the first wiring of LEDS to find out one was burned out already, also had a missing neg wire somplace..always great to stay up late to see somthing not werk :?

um I think he DID do the led mod... at least thats what he explained he was doing. Why else would he ask about the resistor he attached to the leds he put inside the casing of his PSOne screen?

yeah, the resistor will get hot. You might want to get a higher wattage resistor too.

try (this is a bit crazy) putting long leads on the resistor and glue it to your heatsink, you should be set!
