The Beginners Case Guide

Well, when you finish working on your portable, it will be nice to have something to put the unfried work in. Here is a guide to the most commonly used types of cases in portablization:

1. The Fankencase Method- This method involves connecting parts of other cases using Bondo or Epoxy. Though some sometime it ends up... Er... Less than perfect, if done right, it can look like it was done with a mold injector! for more info see "Tritons guide to franken-casing"

2. The Case-Mod Method- This is basically when you cut holes in the existing case to suit your needs. This is the cheepest method, and can be very rewarding if done right.

3. The Vacuum Form Method- Heating up a piece of plastic and placing it over a mold to give it shape. Looks very proffesional...

4. The Engraving Plastic Method- Cutting the required pieces out of engraving plastic (using a template on the plastic) and then using nylon spacers and aluminum strips for side walls. Looks extremely nice when done.

5. The Machine Method- Getting some kind of machine to cut precision parts for you. Usually done with a CNC machine. Also can be done with CAD, looks absloutely, fantastiaclly like it was made by a real videogame company. Also very expensive, if you have money CHOOSE THIS METHOD!

Yeah, I've been transfering the info from PS for convinience and usefulness... My cart slot relocation thread is a sticky in N64 right now...

I appreciate you're trying to help new people out here, but don't we already kind of have a "casing technique" thread stickied at the top?

I'm kinda juggling several projects at once... A Radicap and VCSp by the book... Sorry for the lack of updates... I just really haven't needed any help. And my reasons for guides? I remember when I was a newcomer and saw who complicated the guides looked and ended up getting mondo confused, so lately I've been trying to make guides so they're easier for newcomers to understand... Kinda like an intruductory thing so people understyand the bigger threads...
