Hey, can i downgrade my computer from Windows 2000 to Windows 98? Im asking this couse this computer runs slower than a old person on a free-way. Also this pc dont meet the system requirements for 2000, turns out it needs more than 128mb ram.
IS it possible to downgrade?
Can I?

It should let you install if you run off a 98 boot disk, then delete the NTFS partition and make a FAT32 partiton. Reboot and format c:.
Just make sure you don't have anything you want on that computer!
Try running Disk Cleanup and Disk defragmenter first.
What are the system specs? Maybe it's not 2000 that's making it lag. (I ran it on a 200mhz P1 MMX with 128 MB RAM before. It worked just fine, even WITH all my dad's work software running in the background. (BlackICE, Outlook, Norton Corporate Edition...)

Steps:
Go to www.bootdisk.com
Download and run the Windows 98 boot disk creator.
Reboot with that disk.
Type "fdisk" at the command prompt.
Delete the non-dos partition
Create a primary partition and use the maximum size and make it active.
Reboot again with the disk.
Type "format c:"
Wait for it to finish formatting
Place your Win 98 disc in the CD-ROM drive
Type "R:\Setup" (yes, R:, no matter what)
Continue the installation
All those command line things are without the quotes.

I'd imagine right now you wish you were a cuttlefish...
Yes you can downgrade. There are things you need to consider though. You computer is likely not designed for the requirements of 98 so you should check to see that you can get network and graphics drivers. I know about this because in A+ we did this and if you don't have either of those installed you have no internet and you're stuck in a resolution of 640x400 or something simalar.
But like everyone I would advise against it. The 9x series all suck. To speed up the NT based Windows you just need to tweek them. Look online for tutorials about speeding up 2000. They should tell you want services to drop, and were you can find them. That way you can have the system working faster. Also if you have a second hard drive you are not using, install it and make it the location of Winodws paging (virtual ram files). This last tweek alone will improve your hard drive access speed.
