However, what it looks like on paper ain't what it turns out to be unless you make a proto first. Is a proto case in the works, dude?

Thanks

I'm glad you like it. I'm going to try making it as close as possible to the design. What I plan on doing first is cutting out the the actual base, which is everything except the controller and making a clay molding and make a plaster cast mold. After that I am going to vacuum form it into a nice case. The drawing in itself helped me as a prototype, and I have a lot of precise measurements, so I'm fairly confident I can fit it all in the case.
Sparkfist wrote:Minkster, you sure the Mini SNES board is that much slimer then a controller? Also wouldn't this be better served in the case forum. So if you think it should be in the SNES forums as Triton or the other Case forum mod to return it here.
To answer your first question, yes the SNES board is slimmer than the controller. I was also thinking whether I should have posted this in the case forum or SNESp one. If you would like to move it you can

Without a battery, I think it might be slightly top heavey, but with the battery which I would like more towards where the placement of the controller is, I think the weight should even itself out.
CronoTriggerfan wrote:Really, top heaviness isn't as bad as one would think. I do like the external controller and the overall layout, looks a lot like mine

! However, as sparkfist said, the controller is larger than the SNES mini mobo (I just checked). Are you going to make the case as large as the controller, or smallify it and have the controller sides stick out like wingnuts? Also, how is your controller going to be fastened on? Bondo, probably? Can I make a suggestion? Use velcro. It holds better than you would think, very sturdy stuff. Plus, it can get a little uncomfortable after a few hours of Star Fox having to reach up to those shoulder buttons (although they are fine there for casual use, as in most games) so it's nice to be able to take the controller off and just hold it. Will you relocate the cart slot? Personally, I think this design would be better suited to leave the cart slot where it is, but that's just me.

I have looked at your case and I noticed some similarities too..I like the red
The case is going to first be slightly larger than the controller...then curve inwards and I will have the controller bondo'd in. The reason I want it bondo'd is because I really like the design of how it looks...especially with dkap's cases...so I'm going to give it a shot

I had a pretty cool idea to actually relocate the L and R buttons to the side of the winglets, rather than in the back. It will be a somewhat hard task, but I think I can do it.
Phew, that was a long post
