The 4xAA SNES portable - possible!? I think so!

Includes but not limited to: SNES, Genesis, Sega CD, PlayStation 1, Nintendo 64, Dreamcast, Game Gear and I guess the Virtual Boy.

well, I've been running a snes mini
and hipgear without the led backlight mod
for about an hour now

and there is no distortion but the backlight seems to be fading, not sure though, I may replace it with an led backlight though

or maybe even just move to some li-polys I like em better anyway :P

oh yeah its running off of 4 alkalines, I'm gonna try some Ni-Mh AAs next but I think the voltage will be to low for the hipgear. The intec in my NESp doesnt like them very much
when life gives you lemons make flux

I started on my onw FC Twin project this weekend, and thought i'd give you a heads up. I did some double checking, and its accurate that the FC Twin SNES board only draws 200~mAh, but thats ONLY the SNES board. If you use the power board as well, then it draws 290mAh. Looks like the CXA1645 and audio opamp draw an extra 90mAh.

290 is still acceptable I would think. If your screen is only 117mAh, then thats still only a little over 400mAh total.

Not bad. Thanks, grahf - it's nice to get some concrete numbers.

How about $58? Hope nobody else bids on it though because it's a starting bid of $49 with shipping costs of $9.
