Concept that I won't ever finish.

Yes it is nice to be able to put your projects INSIDE something isn't it? You know, to hold everything together so it doesn't flop around? Discuss the techniques here!

Hmm, I've relocated a PSONE CD Data Cable (that brown papery things with contacts on a side), why not this? I'll fail, but damn nice idea.

I took apart my GBC today (Not an easy task, getting the screws out without breaking the plastic) and I have come to the conclusion that I am not up to the task of doing this. At least not with a GBC. If I can get my paws on a SP I may be tempted to try again.

I think it's be fun to do it with a DS. Sure, one of the screens would be open and susceptible to scratches all the time, but it's still be cool.

Or maybe the original game boy. If you screw it up, it only costs $10 to get another one used. And it already has the electronics on 2 circuit boards (more like 4, but there are 2 main boards if I remember correctly), so you wouln't have to chop it in half like all of the other non-SP ones.

You could use a simple roll-up mechanism to let the wires go in and out the case...

Another idea I just had is that you could hack apart an old printer and take the ribbon cable out of it.

That is a good idea, it is meant to go back and forth so it will handle the stress better. The only hard part is soldering all those little connections, someone with skill could handle it though. To bad I don't have those kind of skills.

If you're feeling brave you could also use the existing PCB and use the leads from that.
