Build your own PS2?

I was looking around this site. And I was wondering if you bought a board, and a disc assembly if that is all that you need to build a PS2 slim console. The parts would total you like $80, and you could get a colored case off ebay for cheap. So you could cram everything into the case, and boom $90 slim PS2. Also, if you were going to make a portable PS2 you would already have everything you need (board, and laser assembly), right?

That's ignoring the laser cable, power board, and networking board though.

Grr, so I guess its the same if you just bought a new PStwo? Actually, its cheaper I think (you don't spend $30 on a case). I wish slims would go on sale already (how much are used ones?).

Who the hell will actually buy it though? The PS2 has been out for FIVE YEARS, six when the PS3 comes out. Everybody already has a PS2. Their plan to decrease sales will fail.

what about the PSone? that was sold up until about 2003 IIRC, so it woould be almost 7 years old at that point!

I saw a slim white one for sale a couple days ago used. I almost picked it up, but I'll probably wait until my "twins" sell.

Im waiting for the 360 to come out so I can grab a normal xbox for cheap. Ill then mod it and have a sub $200 computer ready for web browsing and the such.

HK-47 the xbox is going to stay the same price because the hardware is too expensive.
