PS2 Portablizing has begun!!

Post by segasonicfan »

Hey folks-

Just got a new slim PS2 today and I'm making some great progress...I don't have any PS2 games to test yet, but I've been running PS1 games such as MGS and RE3 and getting GREAT battery life. Even though the power adapter is listed as 8.5v at 5.65A The system clearly doesn't need that much to run PS1 games, DVDs, and CDs. It may not need that to run PS2 games either...I'll find out when I GTA tomorrow.

So far it has been running Nemesis for 1 hour and 45 minutes off ONE thin li-poly battery! The battery is only 7.4V at 6A but it's running great. This battery is amazing too, certainly the smallest and lightest for its power available.

I'll keep this post updated with my progress :) I wonder how Ben's doing on his.....

Without games my life would have no meaning.
Well, I guess it would, but it would be a lot less fun!!!!!!!

I saw something even more incredible, a 16000 MAH D size battery. Which does come out to about 16 Ah, right? I dunno if they're rechargeable though. I'll have to look more into them.

 16Ah?!?!?!?!?.......*faints and dreams of playing gamecube for 8+ hours*

you'd have to wire 11 or 12 in series to get the right amount of voltage for the GC, though (and just one is big enough........)

The battery is a Initial Portable DVD Player battery model RB-LiP02. I bought a bunch of them broken off ebay a while back and repaired them.

Here's a link I googled for it:
http://www.portabledvdbattery.com/
You have to scroll down a bit

Wow, they even have an 8A+ battery at 7.4v :O

Oh, and as for the voltage, I was checking it and it started at 8.1V and gradually dropped to 7.4V and below...
