Out of curiosity, are you using the original power switch or another switch?
If you are using the original switch, make sure all 4 of the switches are attached. Even though 2 are for the led, it still won't start up unless it has that stupid led light attached.
I didn't try taking out the a/c adapter so I am not sure about that one to be honest, but maybe you can jump the original spots for the ac adapter "pretending" it's still there?
Just some ideas...

Well, I cut the original power switch on my radica to shrink it down and it turned on perfectly fine. Try placeing the ac adapter in and test it again. If that won't go, then check to make sure solder didn't spill on the board or that you didn't accidently cut a trace by mistake.
I emailed customer service to see if the board is or isn't double layered. Once they reply, I'll let you know immediatly.
Also, try getting a toothbrush, put a bit of alcohol on it, and brush the entire board. This will make sure that you get any extra solder lying around and also will let you know if your connections are good too when you brush over it.
