Damn N64 rumble pak and batteries- hmmm, soldering?

Post by groovemeister »

Hi all, this is my first post on the forums...

I remember years ago back in the day when the N64 was in its prime, I read an article in a magazine that showed you about some simple soldering to an N64's crumble pak circuit board eliminated the need for batteries... the pak ran of the N64 as most unofficial ones do.

Now, I'm a collector and I like my official rumble paks, plus its frequency is patented which is why no pak rumbles quite like it.

So I ask, does anyone know about this soldering? If they do, I'd love to know how- I'm getting sick and tired of those damn batteries!! :x

you need to fing a +5 volts and ground lead on the memory card port. then on the rumble packs board solder the packs poisitive to +5 and the negative to ground you can find both with a multimeter.

Hmmm... how come I have to mess with the memory card port? Others just run temselves with no controller mods.

you don't, you just need to figure out which pins on the memory card port are the power and ground pins. I wouldn't suggest this mod as it could easily blow the fuse for the controller ports.

Apparently it's quite a simple procedure, but like I said I'd need a diagram anyway, or in-depgh description. I'm quite suprised that no-one much has heard of this...
