Controller help...

Post by xriverfalconx »

I was reading over the Exodus project and there was nothing really explained about the controllers except that the board he used was from the Radica controller. Sounds good and all...however, he didn't explain how it all went together. I looked through all the forums, searched google, checked doomportables...nothing.

I do know what each color is for (googled it and found it) however, can anyone help me explain how the controler should be attached utilizing tact switches? Thanks!

just replace the board that was the original controllor with tact switches thats all ben did, tact switches are basically just a different way to complete the circuit

in other words just wire to the traces comin from the gloptop controllor

That's what I thought, but some look like they don't match up right or some won't have any wire on it at all. Whoever has done this, can you give me some feedback please???

EDIT:::

I looked and tried to make it out with the diagram on ben's site, but things don't add up because some connectors are on the cart, but are not on the rom and vice versa...HELP!!! :(

Ran into a problem today...I connected everything according to Ladyada's diagram and the system turns on, I get sound, the monitor turns on, but no video...I checked my connections over a few times and I didn't see anything wrong (providing the diagram is correct). Is there something to jump on the screen? am I missing something here?

The screen is running off it's own power supply (4 AA E2 batteries), same with the system. I connected the audio on the system to the audio on the controller board, and i connected video to the yellow wire (composite) on the board (connector). What am I missing?

I haven't connected the cart slot yet because I don't understand the diagram provided...if anything, grounding the screen is the only thing i don't think I did. Just solder a wire from the screen (silver part) to any ground?

DAMN DAMN DAMN!!! The screen wasn't good to begin with! I contacted the person I purchased it from and they "failed" to mention that the screen had problems, yet the listing said it was fine. Bastards!!!

Gotta buy another one now... :cry:

Anyone selling Hip Gear Screens???
