Seriously, they've been stealing everything nintendo does from the begining. D-pad, Controller button setup, Shoulder buttons, Rumble, Analog stick, microphone (Mr. Pikachu) Online, ( http://www.gamezero.com/team-0/articles ... x-banding/ ) and others. I personally think that they will disregard the controller for now because everyon will know they stole it, Developers who are already well underway in game development will be pissed because they have to scrap everything and redo it to the controller, plus they would have to push back the launch date do to the redisigning, also who the hell wants a !remote! as acontroller, But i do think that sometime into the PS3's lifetime they'll make an almost similar divice (like the EYE-toy.) Every one would slam them though (media, fans, nintendo) because the would obviously copying someones patented finished idea. They'd definetly lose their respect as a powerfull company and be donwgraded to patent/idea stealing scum. What do you guys think?

Sony wouldn't be stupid enough to copy this revolutionary of a controller yet. Perhaps the gen after the upcoming one if things go well for Nintendo's Revolution, but it would really kill their credibility to steal such an innovative idea right after Nintendo has used it. They'll stick with their controller, at least for this gen.

Yes but Sony's been getting around their patents for a long time, by say... changing a minor component and saying its theirs. Like i stated before: Rumble, D-pad, Shoulder buttons, analog stick........Conn wrote:Nintendo patended stuff for it, so if Sony does, nintendo can sue.

The cross shaped D-Pad was a pretty good idea...Vectrex got close to a modern controller in 1982, before Nintendo did, but their directional control was still a thumb-controlled joystick. However, it's so similar to a 4 button version of the NES controller in layout, I consider it the prototype for the first modern controller. ^^*
I think Nintendo was the first to really get the gamepad right, though.

Warranty-Voiding fun!
Ps1 Had a rumble didnt it?, and how if sony copy'd the d pad so did like 95% of commercial controler's its just a good idea. Its like patenting banana's.
