true story, I tell ya, I can get witness if needed.
A friend and I were trying to make a NESp, which failed in the long run, and we were trying to do something (don't remember what, maybe desoldering RF box)
when we were done, my friend yelled in excitement "yeah! pNES!" Then he realized what he just said... awkward

woahhh..
ok so i finally got around to soldering the 5 remaining strands of cable for the contoller (pg 165), and this is what happened!
i got a niiice brilliant blue screen, and thats about it..
better than a black screen... i suppose..
but! before i soldered those five strands, i decided to try my luck again by tuing the thing on, and what do you know, i got video! BUT! it was very VERY dark...even with the contrast turned up...in excitment i soldered the 5 wires thinking maybe the video signal needs to be boosted, but again..all i get now is a blue screen..so i've got to be getting somewhere...

finally!
ok so! after a nice 3 hours of me messing with the cart slot, i got video!!
unfourtunaly the only game that seems to be werking with it right now is Zelda. i switched the connector with a brand new 72 pin, and i still get the same problem..video, no sound, no controls...kinda distorted video too...i find myslef messing with the game by pushing down on it for about 15 mins before i get video..
when i do get video, none of the contollers werk either...grr....soo frustrating!

If you're using the original NES motherboard, did you remove the RF box?
If so, then you'll have to build a video amplifier circuit. The instructions are in the 8-Bit NES section somewhere, or you could search for "NES video amp", without the quotes of course.

yup, i already built the video amp circuit...and removed the rf box. (i just followed ben book exact, with same radio shack part numbers and all, no personal mods) i think that the books shows you how to integrate the video amp circuit along with the controls on the left board, pg 153.
on a side note...i finally got the sound to work!
GAWWDDD i'm an iddiot...!
pg 152, it says that you have to put a solder connection to the HPS and HP_R spots on the psone screen for the sound to work...
haha...so now i got both sound and SOME video for certain games...
still no controls
