I dunno, but that is the breakdown of the schematic for a transistor (PNP or NPN, I don't remember).

Im pretty sure you are right, out side is negative, inside is positive, there is a diagram that looks like this on the side...

makes sense eh? now I just have to figure out which of the battery wires goes where because the be perfectly honest I an a n00b at crap like this and dont know much besides when you hold the ends of one wire to opposite ends of a battery it burns your fingers!!! yeah....cool, now Im pretty sure nothing will go wrong with the battery opperation if I attach the right ends to the right place...in other words, how do I tell what end is positive of the battery (red or black, if that is significant)

The outer shield SHOULD be negative, like the outer connector contact, but test it with a multimeter first. If it gives you a negative voltage rating when you have it hooked up negative to outer, the shield is positive.

Well, if the leads are black and white, white is negative. However if they are red and black, black is negative. If they don't have leads, they should have the polarity marked.

Confirmed by a pro, red is positive black is negative, I went to my dads work and asked someone, later dudes. I think that is the easiest way to connect the battery because I got mine running off of it this morning no problem, now I just have to fit it all into the case.
