I went to a garage sale this week and found a bunch of old cell phones, cheap too. As I was looking through I found one that had a 7.2V battery! And it was a Li-Ion! I bought it for 25 cents!!!
When I got home I opened it up and found that it had two li-ion cells in series. I figured that I splice into the first cell and run the 3.3V n64 line off that.
I was afraid that since it was 3.6V (4V when fully charged) might fry the N64. It didnt! The n64 ran perfect for a whole minute before I turned off the N64 (due to my brother bugging me to use the TV
I think that, even though the first cell will die before the second cell is empty, this might be even better than using a 3.3V regulator, since there is not a ton of energy being wasted as heat.
What do you think? Keep in mind, I am planning on using a non-led modded 5" screen.
So the only problem I foresee is I have no idea what the capacity of the battery is. no markings anywhere on the battery. I think the only way to know how long it will power the GM64 is to just test it. If it turns out to be too small for a N64, I will just use it for my next PS1P
