8.5v is kinda odd isn't it. What does the dvd drive need? That's proably all you would have to worry about. The pcb probably runs off a regulator.
I might get a pstwo. They are just so much nicer than those big old ones.

There's at least 2 surface-mount 7805 regulators on the PStwo... All I know is a 7.2 volt Sony battery doesn't cut it. I doubt the 8 volt fan would make a difference, it's probably something else.

It doesn't really matter cuz I've got a 9 volt Li-Ion battery that seems to power the system for about 2 hours.

I've started designing the case but I probably won't get hard-core into it until next week. I've still got about 4 and a half chapters in my book to author review (that's where I go through making editorial adjustments) and I want to try and be done before I get Grand Theft Auto 5 on Tuesday :) If I really keep at it I should be able to pound it all out this weekend.

My tentative plan is to CNC cut the parts for my PStwo portable by next Friday the 29th. I could probably have the unit built within a week after that.

I'll say one thing, I've gotten pretty good at predicting the assembly times for this stuff!

sounds nice! The best I can do (if I can get a new ps2 sometime this week) is have one built for the 2nd week of november, but I'm not sure if I want to hack up the new ps2 right away, or finally finsh my n64p.
