A friend and I were working together, and came up with a way to rig a gamecube to turn on by remote.... Dont know if this is of any relevance here, but I thought someone would be able to use it! I can turn my gamecube on from like 30ft away now.... its pretty cool. Basically everything you need to know is in the pic, but questions are welcome!

I'd use a bistable 555 and a relay with a IR interface

hmmm....if I were to implement this in my GCp somehow, I could turn it off whenever someone tries to steal it and play

I would just use a flip-flop and an IR receiver. Simple and easy. Similar to a 555 setup.

with a IR transmiter you could not tern it on through a wall witch would make it hard to convince your buddys it has a demon liveing inside it

RF is the way to go
