Dang it

Post by F »

I ordered a PSone LCD off of eBay about a week and a half ago, and it just got here 2 days ago. I was so excited when I opened the box because it was the last part I needed to complete my PSP. When I opened the box I was so excited, but then I tested the screen. Nothing. I know I hooked it up right because when I ran it through my TV I got a picture, and the playstation was getting power. The screen was still blank after I took it off and put it back on. Am I doing something wrong or did I get screwed?

Well maybe thats the reason the person sold it, it doesnt work with the PSOne input. Try seeing if you get a picture running the signal through the A/V cable to the screen if thats not the case then take it apart.

Oh, and either the GBA tv tuner input is reversed, or the screen's input is reversed, because on my cable you have to swap them(it's a mono cable.). So try that if it doesn't work.

Opening it

I've decided that I want to open it up to see if I can find the problem, but I can't get it open. I'm only finding 3 screws in the part of it that hooks into the playstation. Help?

first of all unscrew the 3 screws you can already see. then remove the litle rubber things at the top, there's a screw under each one. finally, get a flathead screwdriver and slowly pop open the whole case, little by little.

Hope this helps!

Well, I guess it would, but it would be a lot less fun!!!!!!!

Thanks

Ok, thanks. Sony is really tricky about where they put their screws. I don't have my screen with me now, but when I get home I'll try it out.

Screwdriver

If I use the screwdriver to pop open the case, I'll still be able to put it back together, right? I'll have minimal damage?

Yes, just be sure that if it isnt coming apart you need to see if there are any other screws you missed. Otherwise the thing will open easily with some prying.

Well, I got it open. The board is completely fried. There are multiple burnt spots.
