Hrm Ive been wondering weather to have the ability to use an external pl1 controller and not use the built on controller(Though having an extern pl2 controller port i will definatly have).
If I were to directly solder a controller to the controller board and use that in the ps2p. And then have the plug still usable(pl1 still) And If I were to plug an external controller into pl1 slot what would happen to the 2 controllers hooked up. Anybody know if this is possible or should i forget bout it...

you should do what I've done in both my portables. Wire the 8 (or 9 depending on the controller) inputs to a mini 10-DIP switch and then from there to the system. That way you can switch the 8 or 9 DIPs off when you want to plug a 1 player controller in. Works great on my portables, see my website for details and pics.
