SNES problems

Post by atkafighter »

My SNES was working off batteries so i hardwired it the hip gear screen to it. I tried it and it didnt work. Just a blank hip gear screen no sound and a steady red light on the SNES controller port. So i removed the screen, put the snes on AC, used the multi out, and connected it to a TV. I get nothing just a steady red light. Any suggestions?
I checked my wiring and realized that i hardwired my controller to port 2 (i forgot that i was soldering to the back) so i removed it and still nothing. And its a revision 2 or 1 i think not a mini if that means anything.
Is it fried? Anyone think i can save it?
Thanks

I think so i connected the hip gear grounds to the grounding strips (i guess thats what they are called) along the SNES mobo.

Ok im not sure if i had the AV grounded. I think the hip gear only has one ground wire. Do you think you could post another pic of your SNES mobo so i can see all the wiring. All i have done was solder wires onto the pins under the plugs (ac and multi out) if i desolder the jacks then try the wiring again would it work?
Also after i removed all the wires (the plugs are still intact) the multi out still does not display or give sound to my TV.
Thanks

Have you checked for bridged connections?

Yes i checked it looks like i got a little bit of solder touching two pins together on the explansion slot (not all sure how that happened  (yay first smilie)). Im going to try to get a desoldering iron later and remove the spot. Could this be my problem?
I saw another post and a lot of people said that revision 1 and 2's cartridge connections need to be cleaned. Im not sure this is my problem because the cartridges still fit pretty snugly (If i don't wiggle it out correctly the connection comes off the mobo), anyway I will clean my SNES asap and let you guys know if it works.
Thanks

Just touch the tip of your iorn to the small bridge. It should split the bridge if your lucky, if not it will suck up the solder and all you will have to do is put some back on the two pins. :D

Would it work if i just removed it completely? Still havent had a chance to mess with my SNES today. If not I'll just remove the bridge and hope it works.

You can remove it but you won't be able to play some games like Majoras Mask.
