PSOne howto

I'd like to know how to make the PSOne into a hand-held.

I know its less adventurous asking how the whole thing is done... but I thought this could benifit me and others that come looking for directions or a guide.

So if anyone can help please post, thx.

Ok, in the pictures section on my site I have a picture of the bottom of the ps1 MB. I labelled a few points. The hardest thing for me to find is the controller pinout.

For the controller pinouts just open up the end of the controller wire that plugs into the Playstation and look at which wires connect to the pins. I did this for my N64p and it worked well.

Yeah, but it is a pain in the but to do that. Last time I tried to do it with my n64 it took me around 30 minutes to open it up.

Well I used a Dremel tool so maybe that's why it worked so well with me

hmm.. yeah, I opened mine up before I had a dremel, so I used a hammer and a screw driver....

Controller pinouts...you mean which pins connect to which colors? Get a multimeter and check for continuity. Put one lead on a pin, then check all the colors coming into the controller board until one matches. Take notes.

Only my friend gave me two PSX, one that works plus a stelth chip *cheers* and another on thats older and doesnt work (according to him). Now to business does anyone have a (1)wire diagram for powering the PSX off batteries, (2)suggestions for type of batteries and (3)how to hack apart the controller port as I only need one for seconed player and a single memory card slot.

1) v+ to power in, v- to ground...what else do you need?
2) RC car batteries or camcorder batteries are favorites around here. Any rechargeable 7.2V will work; pick high capacity or small size.
3) desoldering braid and hookup wire.

Here's a suggestion for batteries, if you're willing to spend some money, you could use some li-polymer cells. They're small and can have high capicity. But since they are real expensive and need a specific charger, you may want to go with something cheaper, like the batteries stereth suggested.

yeah the n64 controler plug deal is a PAIN IN THE @$$ to take apart. especially if you are doing it with a razor and an icepick

I just started my portable playstation and am only confused on how to wire the batteries. V+ to power in and V- to ground doesn't really help. I'm wondering where to solder the 8 AA Batteries (8 AA does work right) any diagram would also be helpful.
