it all comes together

Post by Triton »

so close! like the topic says it is all falling into place. i have made a few changes in my choice of batteries, i am now using 4x 6.0v 700mah NiCd batts and 1, 7.2v batt(i think 1200mah if i cant afford another better one) for the screen. i have a screen available(one of my friends has one he will sell me!) so all that is holding me back is my lack of soldering skills(i really suck) and temporay lack of funds (for the 7.2v batt and the screen) only a few questions
1. battery life with the 5 batts, the 7.2v running the screen and the 6v's runnin the 64?
2.what do you all think? any suggestions? all help is appreciated

patience is a virtue
good things come to those who wait

plan plan then plan some more and when you think you got a design that works overhal it one more time or get an outside perspective.

Dont rush to rip open the components you got and check out the RC plane helicopter scene as they have excellent batteries which weigh less than aa's plus you'll get a smaller footprint however there is extra cost.

For the case design it in auto cad infiltrate your local college ask for dt department then ask reall nice or beg for use vac form machine, but most likely you will have to pay for materials and will have to use it at certain times for supervision reasons on the plus side the teacher will bound to get curious so you will get advice from an experienced person.

I'll be honest with you - I would have never guessed that.

basically with my hurry there were a few major design flaws in my atari, they're not really visible by pictures, but they're there. This time, I'm gonna have the control pad hole be right on the case, instead of cutting the case of a NES controller. Since I'm not perfect with a Dremel, I'm going to outline it with a laser engraver, do the basics with a dremel, and sand it with a nail filer until it fits just right. I'm going to do a few other foolproof things as well. Trust me, this'll be nice and purty when it's done.
