A third SNES type?

Includes but not limited to: SNES, Genesis, Sega CD, PlayStation 1, Nintendo 64, Dreamcast, Game Gear and I guess the Virtual Boy.

A third SNES type?

Post by Super Mulletman »

I just got an SNES from my cousin recently, and when I opened it up I found some very interesting things inside (I'll try to get a picture if I can). It's has basically the same insides as the SNES 1 (and identical outside), but there's a large square in one corner, reading "SHVC-SOUND 1990 Nintendo Co., Ltd. MITSUMI ELEC. CO., Ltd."

I didn't even think the SNES came out that early, but I can believe it. However, the board layout is much different than other SNES's that I've opened, and there's this weird looking mechanism that makes it so you can't insert a game when the power's on, but you can pull the game out when the power is on. So...

What is this?

You used the melting pen technique, I have to open up a Toploader to give it a nice cleaning, I remember that techinique from GCDev forums, but I can't remember how to do it, and what end, do I need to remove the ink cartridge before puting it on the screw, or what?

I opened up my new n64 with a spacer bit I made a while ago, it doesn't fit too well, but it's a lot easier and faster than using pliers.

yeah it always takes me awhile to get the N64 open with pliers. Usually I'll just go with my Dremel
Without games my life would have no meaning.
Well, I guess it would, but it would be a lot less fun!!!!!!!
