Backlighting DMG vs. Pocket

Backlighting the DMG has very little effect on its battery life. So why is it that when backlighting the Pocket, its battery life is reduced by about 70% (10 hours reduced to 3 hours)?

It's due to the fact the original gameboy ran on 4 AA batteries and the pocket runs on 2 AAA batteries. So there is more power for the backlight to draw on.
