How many volts/ whats the maximum voltage the PSOne can take safely? I know the chart on doomportables says 7.2-36 but anything above 12 sounds like the system would beging to smoke and then catch fire. Or if someone has put more then 7.2 volts into the thing please tell me how much and how the system performed.

Thank you.

Your facts are right. What voltage do you want to use?

Well 12 would be good but... I dont want to shell out another $30 for another PSOne. I'm getting a lil tired of trying to get a PSOne screen so if I can use a PS2 or GameCube screen I can get the damn thing off the list and enjoy it.

Burst into flames is a bit harsh. At 7.2V it dissipates about 1.5-2W of power. At 12V that's up to about 6W, so it will get hot. If you really want to use 12V and you don't care about the power loss, I suggest using a heatsinked voltage regulator to drop the voltage from 12V to 8V or so.
