Im starting a portable SegaCD!!!!

Post by Reploid Ayla »

There isn't a Sega 16-bit or 32-bit board here. So i thought that this is closest.

Yes I am starting a portable Sega CD. And no it wont be impossible...

im getting my hands on a GREAT console that is very rare.

the SEGA CDX.

when i get it, which might take awhile, i will post pictures of the insides.

this will be fun and a first!

I wish you luck and th reason it is looked at as hard is the CD-rom assembly isnt compact at all. I have one (broken) and I will admit its smaller then I first thought but chopping the CD assemble down is the hardest (besides power economy).

Tell us when you get it in.

I want to do one but can't find them any where. Where did you get yours? Good luck though.

You can look on www.half.com, its like an ebay store only website. They have everything from atari 2600 systems to the latest 128 bit games.

Yah I feel your pain Link my parents didn't let me buy any videogame for a long time, so my first system was a playstation. I don't have any of the classics, and now must either player emulators or buy at high prices.

I was hoping to use the 32x since it's so small.

Interesting....what kind of power would a genesis/32X/CD system draw, though?

Also, are they all 7805'd like almost everything else, or do they actually need the 9 and 10 volt inputs(I think Genesis is a high-current 7805 unit, no clue about the others, though)?
Warranty-Voiding fun!

Segasonicfan made a portable cd32x and a saturn. I was just going to use a 6 volt rc battery and put whatever kind of transformer I need to get it to work. It will say somewhere on the board or system how much voltage the system takes.

cool

it's really too bad that the cdx is the only worthwhile option.

But man, what a handheld it would be. It's so easy to get ANY sega cd game onto a cd-r if you download it. It might not be as easy to find as say dreamcast games, but you'd get the whole game instread of a chopped up version DC games.

Best of luck to ya.

On an unrelated note: I wonder why there was never any development to have a sega cd run genesis roms. I mean..the genesis is right on top of the damn thing..but then again I don't know anything, and there's not that many fans of the sega cd let alone developers willing to do anything with it. Oh well.

Ya, keep up the good work!

Peace,

Kingbuzzo.
Finaly...now I own every single sega console...except the 32x...but it's good to forget about somethings..
