Good portable-izing project for a beginner?

Post by nemba »

I'm semi-newbish to electronics in general, but I can usually figure stuff out. I am entirely a n00b to anything like this, and I figured that people on a forum dedicated to this would know what is easiest to start with.

Is there anything of this sort easy enough, or should I just go and study some more other things?

I think you should try doing region mods and stuff on your consoles or just surf around www.gamesx.com Hope this helps and welcome.

If your alright at soldering and want to do some halds on, you can try the arati. I'm working on one now and the circuitry isnt too small (easy to solder to) the only thing I'll advise is passiance (I've gotten steams a few times) there are a lot of wires to solder.

Otherwise a simple projects? If you have an Xbox your options are great and wide.

try psone. You have to get the screen and system and then just attach batteries to it. Simply as that.
You don't have to worry about the world ending tomorrow, it's already tomorrow in Australia

I reccomend SNES. Slap a screen on the ass end of it, rig the power cord to some batteries and you're done.

link, it looks like it will be very helpful.
Unfortunately I don't have either a Xbox or a PSone, so I'll try the atari first, since I have one.

I'll surely post back here if I succeed in doing anything reasonably cool.

Funny you you should say that. I emailed Spongebuell/Gannon (sent to admin. of doomportables) and they replyed about talking to Ben about it. So if we're luck we can have it on doomportables.org in a lil while.
