WTF, google desktop no more?

ok, so apparently, google desktop is no more and won't be recieveing anymore updates and or servies and stuff...................ALL CAPS RAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was SO used to google desktop that I didn't want it to go, but is there ANYTHING like google desktop that I can use as a substitute (i mainly used the google desktop sidebar, and will NOT use the windows sidebar already installed on windows vista, I just won't)

So...what did you use it for? I guess I don't see what it does that you couldn't do in Firefox or Chrome.

I used google desktop for a couple of things; had a gadget that let me shutdown the computer, put it in sleep mode, lock down the computer

had a gadget that made the recycle bin accessible through the sidebar, had a gadget that let me see what the weather was where im living, and finally a digital alarm clock app that looked nice
