What do I need for a working LCD

If you're making a portable you probably need something to watch it on. (Unless you want to guess what's happening in the game, but I wouldn't advise that) Anyway, this forum is your "Hacking a pocket TV/screen" one-stop solution. Share your experiences and knowledge here.

What do I need for a working LCD

Post by gen2fish »

I have taken apart an old LCD of mine, the HP vp17. The driver board is very small while the power board is quite large. I was wondering, if I got an inverter board for four CCFLs, could I get this setup working?

Let me rephrase, if I have the CCFLs powered elsewhere, and the driver board from elsewhere, could I get a monitor working using just the driver board.

^ . .> Yes, I believe so but cannot say for certain.
^- - ^ It may be necessary to add a dummy resistor where the original inverter/power board connects to since it may expect a 'condition good, don't panic' status signal.
^ - -^ and that assumes that the driver/controller board is compatible with the actual display panel.
