I've got an old 60 watt Weller. (WTCPN base with a TC201P iron.)

Usually I use .020 rosin-core solder but for bigger stuff like tabs on jacks I use some that looks about twice as thick. (The part of the spool with the size written on it broke off a long time ago.)

I used to have a cheap generic 30W iron that plugs in.

Now I only have the nice cheap battery operated Weller BP645MP. 6W, but gets the job done well at close quarters.

I had one.

It exploded, fried my Slot Loading PSone hack I was working on and caused me to go insane calling you all morons and stating that I did not want to belong to the Ben Heck Forums any longer (in some other post)...

It's better to buy one good tool instead of constantly replacing cheap ones that cost half as much when they inevitably break.

all too true bic, a quality 30$ soldering iron will work MUCH MUCH better and last far longer than any 10$ iron you would ever be able to find

It hasn't died on me yet, but I haven't had it for long. I was getting sick of the radio shack irons lasting 2-3 months then quitting, especially with the constant soldering that goes on in my house.
Sears sells screw-on tips. I accidentally got a two-pack of them as spare tips for my irons. They still seem to work, though.

That guy's probably a spammer; look at his sig

Mine that I use the most now is a 45W Craftsman that I got from Sears. I'll probably get a nice Weller if and when this one dies.
