Server / Client Multiplayer?

Do you have a technical question that doesn't really fit a specific console? Want some general info on electronics, hacking, making cookies, etc? Here's the place to ask! Go nuts.

Server / Client Multiplayer?

Post by itakai »

Okay basically I've been working this all through my head for a couple days, and finally got it somewhat down (as I do not know how to write up schematics). Basically I'm asking would something like this work, and if it would work, would it be at all useful. I've attached a picture (made best I could) of what has been going through my head.

My original Idea with this was to make 1 Gamecube Portable (GCP), to begin with, having wiring like this for both Server and Client uses. After the original system, later create a total of 3 more, for a total of 4, for my family and friends when we go on trips. The Server and Client would be decided with a 2 value switch (dont know what kind of switch to use as of yet).

Okay, now to get into the actual GCP. In my design, the back of each one would have 9 AV jack outputs which would be for the other 3 Clients, and 3 AV jack inputs (Video, Audio - Right, and Audio - Left), which would be used to connect to the server console. In addition each controller would have a Gamecube standard controller plug in the back on a retractable cord. As well as Gamecube controller ports, once again for the other 3 clients.

The reason for wanting it like this is it would allow comfort for all people playing the game, instead of 4 people crowding around a single portable game system. If this couldn't/wouldn't be practical I guess I can make just 1 with 3 controller ports in the back, and bring along a coupld extra controllers.

Comments, advice and additional ideas appreciated.
