Well, I just got a CRT television from a hotel because they were getting rid of them because they were installing LCD televisions. I spent two hours yesterday unlocking it to change channels. I had to crack open the remote, press some hidden buttons, and enter a code to get into the system menu, but I did it. I can finally play my NES and SNES on it!
On the back of the TV, I noticed something strange. Aside from the component input with mono sound, mono speaker output, and coaxial input, there were a couple of other ports. There is one that is labeled as "MPI" and looks similar to an ethernet or phone port, but shaped differently. There is also a place for an expansion port, labeled "Super-Port". There's nothing there, though.
I was thinking: is there any way I could use/hack these ports? I think the MPI port might be used for controlling the TV. The Super-Port seems like an empty expansion bay... maybe a serial port?

Yeah, I remember those N64 controllers. If I remember correctly, there was a big black box that connected to the TV, but I can't remember where the N64 controller went: to the box or to the TV...dragonhead wrote:probably the setups for some pay-to-play hotel video or game systems.

Some guy was selling those on this forum a while back. Dang, reminded me of that. I really wanted 1.

Sweet! I found an operator's manual for it:
http://safemanuals.com/414159.php?k=a0a ... 36DT&cM=-1" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Sweet, now I know what all the settings do. There are some settings that control the MPI.

I have one of the controllers, but it is useless without the rest of the system.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but one would need the controller, the "box" hardware, and a connection to the server, right? That's how these things work?

Yeah, probably. you might be able to run a server from a PC, but you might have to buy an MPI to Serial or USB adapter, which can be expensive. More expensive than an N64 itself.eagle5953 wrote:I have one of the controllers, but it is useless without the rest of the system.
