So I currently have 2 broken PS2's lying around, one being a V4 with a working motherboard and dead optical drive, and one being a V5 with a dead mobo and a working optical drive. I would like to use the drive from the V5 on the V4 to save a few bucks, however the pinouts for the motor are different for each drive. I don't have the V4 drive with me at the moment (it's in my dorm), but I'm pretty sure the ribbon for the laser, the motor that moves the laser, and the open/close mechanism are the same. However, the drive motor on the V5 drive uses a single ribbon cable while the V4 drive uses 3 separate wired cables. I was wondering if anyone knew how the cables between the drives are related so I could build some sort of adaptor or just solder a connection from the motor to the mobo on my V4. I've been looking for drive pinouts online but can't seem to find any, so if anyone knows, that would be great.
thanks,
