Megaman Snowboard helmet?!!?!

Post by HotDog-Cart »

Hey guys! I snowboard, but I'm tired of the old plain jane helmet that I have. Its nice, but its BORING.

I want to make this into a megaman helmet, so I can ride in style while on the slopes.

This will be simple to do, as some glossy blue krylon fusion with a clearcoat will make the helmet and the attachments blue. Thats easy.

Hard part? Well... Megamans Helmet has a cool design.

Great example. I'm stumped on what I would make the parts of the helmet out of. Like, the front curves in neatly. The ears have circular objects, and the top of the helmet has like square objects coming out of it.

What would I make these out of? It needs to be durable (able to take a rough landing without falling off.). I was thinking wood, but thatd be heavy.

Any ideas?

Round motorcycle helmet with shaped foam glued on, covered in Bondo?

Just make sure the front is either attached to the helmet really well, or is made out of foam rubber or something. Just in case the helmet has to do its job. :P

(I already have the helmet. Its a snowboard one.)

Bic: Would foam covered in bondo be hard enough to take an impact?

I wouldn't bet my life on a homemade Bondo helmet.

I thought you were looking for a way to build off an existing helmet, where all you would have to worry about is the appearance. Don't try to make your own helmet from scratch. That's just asking for trouble.

Lol, bic you dont understand what Im saying.

I'm modding a REAL snowboard helmet lol. Im just asking if the parts that I would bondo on, if theyd be hard or not. And could take an impact without falling off.

I blame your funny wording. :(

The Bondo might chip, but if you epoxy the underlying materials to the helmet then they should hang on pretty well.

Triton's idea is much better, especially if you use molds to make parts to epoxy to the helmet. Fiberglass will be much lighter, and if the parts do get messed up you can always make new ones from the molds.

What are the chances you'll need the helmet to really need the helmets protection? If it's likely, I would use materials that would break up on impact. I think having something sturdy like wood would probably destroy the safety aspects of the helmet in certain crashes.

That curve infront is just scary looking in a crash. I would use a thin piece of plastic for the outerlayer (somekind of plastic that bends well... and put foam underneath. Then bondo it at the seam only (to make it smooth) That way if you land face first you won't die megaman style XD
