My friend got one on craigslist cheap ($150), because it needed a new bulb ($300). He fitted his LED array from DealExtreme that is twice as bright as the OEM bulb (only cost him $23) with a lens to focus the light correctly, and it works great.bicostp wrote:You're better off finding a used DLP projector that needs a new bulb and/or has a light tube that needs to be reglued.

Re: Projector
Hmm. I'd be interested to know how he got that working, because LEDs as a light source were discussed and tried on Lumenlab with not a whole lot of success. Admittedly, it's been at least a year or two since I've been active on Lumenlab, so things may have changed.nevermind1534 wrote:My friend got one on craigslist cheap ($150), because it needed a new bulb ($300). Re: Projector
Or, if you are like me and have enough room you can get a CRT projector! might not be as bright as LCD or DLP projectors in terms of lumens but pwns both in terms of contrast ratio! and you can get really great deals on CRT projectors on craigslist or at auction. i paid 20$ for both of my sony VPH-1272q and its a mid entry level projector. you can get lower level ones for less than a hundred dollars on CL or much nicer ones in the 100-200$ range. http://www.curtpalme.com/index.shtml has all of the info you would ever need about CRT projectors. here is a pic of my setup, about 110"
