PS2 slim SCPH-90000 Discovery

I haven't seen any mention of this on the forums.
The SCPH-90000, with the internal power supply, runs fine off of 7.2 volts. I just hooked up my battery now to test it.
With the removal of the internal power supply, the unit is basically just as small as the psone slim motherboard. (unfortunately the memory card/controller slots still stick out a bit)
This is great news that I wanted to share.

I thought there would be at least slight differences between the 6 models.
I do myself have a v19 here, I should check it out. Palmertech said that it would run off 7.4v, but never told me that the psu was easily taken out! :O
Raizer, the other statement isn't true either. The size difference was probably the PSU, considering the revised BIOS that removed the independence exploit was only implemented in late 2009 release v18 motherboards.

This shows the mobo in the guys hands, so this might be a better size reference for you.

I was responding to mako321. Did you use this version in your portable? If not, why did you choose the version that requires 8.4v and is larger?

i have a slightly different mother board, the controller ports and the USB ports are swapped on mine i believe... would that still run off the same voltage?

The external models require 8.5v, sorry.

Interesting, I today got a PS2 with an internal power supply. Thanks for sharing that information.
Now all I need to is know if my screen runs with 7.2 too. But probbaly not, since it's supposed to get 8.5. :/

Depends on the screen. The psone official screen runs fine off of 7.2v
