Will this Battery Work?

Post by kirbyfanner »

Hello,
I'm completely new to portabilizing and i've ordered the book which has not yet arrived.
I think I understand the mAh of batteries, and I read that a C battery has about 8000 mAh. Is it possible to use this to run the portable SNES? I'm using the SNES mini and the PSone screen. Also, is there some C battery holder or something that has a low light indicator? Does the book explain how to make that? If not, where can I learn?
Thank you in advance :)

The larger 7.2v NiMh packs that people use are indeed made up of 6 cells that are about the size of a C battery. Since batteries are only around 1.2v, you need 6 in series to power a SNES (IIRC). Since the SNES doesn't use /that/ much power, you could get away with something smaller, more like 3/2AA cells, and 2000mAh

There's a thread for a low-light indicator somewhere on these forums, i think in TQ&A, but maybe its in the N64 forum.

The thing I like about the C battery is that it has 8000 mAh, and you can get rechargeable ones.
I also heard NiMH batteries are hard to charge, and theres a special way to charge them.
Thank you again!
