NES Arcade Cabinet

Post by SheepishPixel »

Hey everyone, I'm SheepishPixel. I've been lurking the site for quite a while now, and have learned a lot from you guys. With that knowledge, I plan to complete my first major mod, an arcade cabinet that runs an original NES board.

I've gone ahead and built the wooden cabinet in my woodshop class this year. I've managed to snap a few pics with the DSi.

Hey SheepishPixel, welcome to benheck.com. The cabinet looks great. Have you decided what controls you are gonna use like the nes arcade pad?

Thanks Brandon, and I'll be using genuine arcade controls. ^^

Wow, the DSi takes some surprisingly decent pictures

Otherwise, welcome to the forums! That cabinet looks pretty sweet too! Are you planning on adding any decoration to it when it's totally finished?

Thanks! I plan on either staining the wood or painting it. I've got a friend who's good with an airbrush, I might ask him. ;)

Yeah, I've heard of people doing that, where can you get them?

Thanks :D And yep, I've got the NES board, I'm just waiting on arcade buttons. I might make a guide on how to connect them to any standard controller in the near future, it isn't hard at all. (..I've been wanting a PS1 fightstick for a while now ;) )

I misread this post at first and thought you wanted him to add an ashtray to his cabinet (chain smoker, lol what ). But that does look cool, are you going to be using American or Japanese arcade parts for the controls?

Hahah I don't smoke, but I was thinking of a cup holder. ;) Also, I'll be using Japanese arcade parts, I like the retro look of them.
