HOW TO USE A NON-INPUT DVD PLAYER SCREEN - HAUNTED360

If you're making a portable you probably need something to watch it on. (Unless you want to guess what's happening in the game, but I wouldn't advise that) Anyway, this forum is your "Hacking a pocket TV/screen" one-stop solution. Share your experiences and knowledge here.

HOW TO USE A NON-INPUT DVD PLAYER SCREEN - HAUNTED360

Post by Haunted360 »

Hello. I finally figured out how to use a portable dvd players screen that does NOT have any inputs what so ever!

Basically, I opened it up and traced down the AV inputs to the IC chip...

Goto http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MImi23J1DCI to find out how to do it, and for basic information...

I believe you can use it with any screen/portable dvd player if you know what your doing

I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO DO THIS FOR A WHILE BECAUSE NO ONE KNEW HOW IM GUESSING. SO THIS IS PROBABLY THE MOST EPIC FIND EVER, AND I HOPE YOU CAN TRY AND DO IT YOURSELF!

Thanks

Very Cool. Are you going to write a guide of some sort, and what portable dvd player did you use?

I sure am :)

You most likely will not find the DVD player anymore, but it was a

Digitrex

Model NO: PD-510

5" TFT

Portable DVD/CD/MP3 PLAYER

DC 12V 1.5A

POWER CONSUMPTION: 8.5W

I will definitely post images of its casing and the screen with higher/better quality zooms on my site (It is in my signature below)

Thanks

Does it still need the DVD player's motherboard to function?

Yes. Without it, it will not work. However it is smaller than a PSone LCD Screen that you would buy.

No. But from the picutres I have seen of the original PSone lcd screen controller / screen ribbon cable, it looks the same.

Thanks.

Uh sure can - just wait a few months until I get a PSone screen MoBo to compare it too - haha

Be sure to check out my site from time to time, as I do updated it quite often when I am not busy...
