My school was getting rid of some old laptops.

I got two free dells.

they kind of suck though, since one is pentium 3 and the other is a pentium 2.

not bad for free, though.

I found one of those c64 plug and play joysticks at goodwill for five bucks. Should be a fun time hacking it.

Bought a Broken PS3 Fat 40g from my friend w/ inFamous, and MK vs. DC, for $60.

Brought it home, reflowed the Mobo, and it works like a charm.

Linksys WRT54g v6-$2. Basically new.

Hacked it, don't know what to do with it now, I don't need a repeater or anything like that XD.

Got a free Mac SE from a relative who was going to throw it out. Booted up perfectly fine, works like new (except the floppy drive repeatedly runs the eject motor cycle sometimes after you eject a disk). It was sitting in a closet for at least 15 years; the newest file on it before I started playing with it was dated 1994.

4 MB RAM (the maximum it can possibly use, it originally shipped with one)
20 MB HD (dual 800k floppy drives was the standard; in fact the SE is the only Mac that can handle 3 floppy drives simultaneously: two internal and one external.)
Original keyboard and mouse (I hadn't seen one of these keyboards in years)
System 6.0.8
PageMaker 5, MacPaint 2, MacWrite 2, MacDraw Pro, TypeTwister, MYOB, LaCie Utilities, Norton Disk Doctor, and a few other programs
Working PRAM battery! (the PRAM is a tiny chunk of memory that keeps track of the date, time, keyboard repeat rate, mouse movement rate, click speed, and what disk is the startup disk. It's an antiquated system from the Plus and earlier hard-drive-less Macs, so your settings would persist between different boot floppies.) Usually these die after about 10 years (the one in my SE/30 is long dead), so I'm guessing this one was replaced at one point.

I found a new-old-stock, refurbished-by-some-no-name-company SCSI hard drive in a box in the garage, threw it into an external enclosure whose original drive died, and installed System 7.0.1 onto it. It works just fine, but the problem is I have no idea what I'm going to do with a whole gigabyte of storage space. (I already had to cut it into four 256 meg partitions so an empty text file won't take up 32k of space...)

Right now I'm just sharing files between it and a slightly less old Powerbook 1400, so I can get some games and TCP software onto it. Eventually I want to get it online through our old Cayman Gatorbox (a bridge unit that translates between plain old Ethernet and the Mac's native serial port LocalTalk networking.) It's already got and IRC client, a browser, an FTP client, and an email program.

Videos might come later. Probably not, but maybe.

that just reminds me that i have more work to do on my amiga! install the new roms, install workbench 3.5, Ibrowse, Miami TCP/IP stack, prism II drivers, aquire and install a netgear MA401 pcmcia wifi card and get online! and maybe eventually i will be able to afford an indivision flickerfixer/scandoubler so i can use modern monitors with my a1200. and an overclock to 40mhz might be on the way in the future. i got it off of craigslist so its somewhat relavant! lol

That's pretty cool. Sounds like we need a new "post your collection" thread. ;)

Got a Slim PS2 boxed with power and av cord and nba live 08 boxed no controller for $10 at goodwill.
Sega Gen model 1 with two controllers and cables for $5, Sega gen turbo 6 button controller $1, 3 n64 games, Mortal Kombat, Bomberman, and one other for all for $3, Brand New Sealed CIB copy of John Madden Football 93 for SNES $.50, N64 power supply $1.50, Two other random power supplies $.50 each, and the crem dela crem Pokemon Blue with okay label for $2.00. All in all a good haul I think.

A negative note while at goodwill buying the PS2 the lady told me someone brought in PS3 but it did not have any wires or controllers so they did not know if it worked. I asked her if I could buy it that I could probably fix it and find cables for it. She asked someone in the back and she told me that they could not sell it tome because it might be broke and that they send those sorta things off to a bigger store. So not fair or right.
That's Hacking Awsome

That sucks. For stuff like that, my thrift store just slaps a sticker on and writes "untested" on it. Fail on their part for not selling it to you even though you knew it might not work.
