iFlashback

Post by DeadReKiller »

I have started to make a portable Atari Flashback 2 which will look something like this:

It will use a 3" screen, 6 AA batteries, and the original controller with the option to replace the
giant joystick with a smaller "thumb pad" analog stick looking like this:

I wanted to know what you guys think of it.

I see no potentiometer in your mockup.

From what I've been told those paddle games are fun (I've never owned an Atari).
I've had an idea for a while about the paddle controller: Instead of putting a knob on the pot and mounting it on the top, would it be easier to hold if the pot had a wheel on it and came out of the side like a volume control? Just an idea.

I two, have never owned a real 2600. I chose this system because it is small and, more importantly, I already owned a flashback. I don't think I will add a pot, at least not at first, because the flashback only has 3 paddle games, one of which, pong, has a joystick version.

I like the idea of adding the pot like a volume control, but I don't think that will be playable, if I rember right, the paddle rotates almost 360, and as a volume controler, you would only be able to rotate it about 90 at a time.

I am trying to make it look like an iPod, but I couldn't make it look right in the image.

I should make a docking station for the iFlashback. All I need to do is have the video/audio out on the bottom, and have a button that turns off the screen on the bottom to, and then the dock will just connect the video/audio to a tv.

I wish I could start on this now, but I am waiting for the 3" Pustom screen.

edit:

I just got the screen today :D . it looks like the 2.5" screen, only the switches rearanged. the problem is it is way to bright. it is just asking to be led modded, but I have no experience in that. Has anyone else led modded a pustom before?
