Trying to find out if I can get rid of the 120gb hdd in me Custom Elite and replace it with a 500gb hdd instead?
Is this just a case of cloning the image to the new hard drive after formatting it correctly or am I way off the mark?
Thankies in advancies,
Blue.
Can the 120gb HDD be binned for a 0.5 TB HDD?

The maximum amount of storage one can use on one hard drive for an xbox 360 is 250GB. This is set up by their need to have proprietary rights over their storage medium. The reason 250GB is max is because the largest hard drive option is 250 (with the Call of Duty edition 360). You can't just use any old hard drive. If your 500GB is a Western Digital laptop drive, you can use a program called HDDHackr, along with some hardware and a flash drive, to flash the necessary security sectors onto your personal hard drive to make it readable and usable by a 360 but again, the largest size the 360 would recognize it by is 250GB.
Here is a tutorial on how to do such a thing.
Hope my info helps, have a nice day.

Check out Xbox Scene. They have tons of info and a dedicated community to hacking the 360.
