What exactly are you trying to do? Because, depending on that, it changes where you'd solder.

im trying to use radio shack buttons, they worked and now they dont. i know you have to scratch the taces on both sides and solder to those, but this controller is just wierd please help.

Its pretty simple.
One wire goes from the button to those big circles near each button.
And one wire goes to ground.
Like so (circles are the button; squares are ground)
