Thanks, Bino!

And yeah, the only real components that give the board height are the DVD drive, the two USB ports standing up, and the heat sinks. You can't get it slimmer than the DVD drive, so why bother? I had to move some capacitors, though. My heatsink for the CPU stuck out waaay to far on both sides and I had to make room for the USB ports to lay down.

I enlarged the pictures and put in a better video. Also embedded the videos.

What about dismantling the DVD drive and having maybe some sort of flip top mech? Do you think this would be appealing in order to slim it down even further. Im toying with the idea of doing one of these myself.

No doubt the drive can be slimmed down by someone in the know. That's not a bad idea, but I wouldn't want to risk removing something necessary. ruin the drive, ruin the console is how I understand it. I'd really like to see you do one. You usually amaze with originality.

edit: and think about cooling. fans and such. they usually need height so maybe arrange it in a way that keeps it slim

Basically, you take the tray and case off, and the drive gets smaller. It's just the eject part that requires any thinking...

Where did you get the hinges? Are they friction hinges?

I'm pretty sure those are the McMaster-Carr friction hinges Ben uses.

It's beautiful. Seriously, very clean, looks very sturdy. I am especially impressed with the way you handled the ring of light, that's very nice. Definitely creative with the heatsinks too. I love it, very well built. Congrats!

Yep, the hinges are the Mcmaster-Carr ones. Ben uses the 16lb torque ones. I kinda thought those were too tight, so I bought the 8lb ones which weren't quite strong enough. Guess what I did next? One of each! The case is sturdy enough that you can't tell one side is tighter than the other and it works well.

Yeah, it'd definitely be less bids if I hadn't started at $.99

Between the $45 broken 360 that MS replaced for free and the $37 LCD, not too bad. That $3000 "buy it now" looks a little foolish now though. doesn't it? haha.
