maybe stupid questions

I was reading over the section on hacking the 2600 board--
I need to know how you test the unit-- After you rewire the unit and make the composite settings how do you test it on the modern tv-- First of all when you cut the board you chop off the port to plug in the unit and also I dont see any type of cables you are creating to plug this into the tv set---Any help would be aprreciated---
