Super Joy 3 vs Retro ES?

Post by bowserevilking »

Which would be better(e.g.Smaller, more functional), the Super Joy 3, or the Retro Entertainment System?
The SJ3 seems smaller, but more "broken" and with the Japanese Cart Slot I'd have to hand wire an adapter.
The RES, though, seems a lot better but bigger. Has anyone ever opened one before/ can I get some measurements?

I too, am interested in seeing these pictures and measurements, it would help a lot with my project.

Edit: Actually, is there anyway I can flag or watch this thread, so when someone posts a response, I can be notifiedd?

@MetalMario- Next time you make a reply, there's an option at the bottom to "Notify me when a reply is posted". Just click that.

I've had and killed both an SJ3 and a rebranded RES. The RES was the much better system in my opinion. It accepted original NES controllers, and could be reduced to a single board. The board wasn't much wider than the cart. I don't have any of my original pictures or measurements, either. I found that the controller being on a separate board worked much better for relocating. It was also very nice to start with the 72-pin connector, since I already had a 72-60 converter.

No one actually gave any measurements.
You still helped me quite a lot, though measurements would be nice.

Wow! So you mean the single board Tibia was talking about? Also, is the cart slot wired directly to that, or by wires? It does seem a bit smaller than a US nes cart.
