External Power Source?

I'm building an NES media PC with bluray.
Here's the parts list:
Hard Drive
Mounting Brackets
MotherBoard
BluRay

I won't be able to fit a PSU inside and I would prefer to not have to add an extension to the NES. I was thinking a Laptop Power Supply might do the trick, I'm just not sure how I would get power to everything as I am not a master of electronics and wiring, just putting components together.

Any insights on this? or maybe suggestions on how to get power to my NES PC?

could you please clarify that statement?

my first thought was a normal PSU with an external housing attached to the right side of the NES, and that would be fine since it's got a nice fan in it that would help me with cooling but I really didn't want to detract from the original shape of the NES I want it to look just like an NES with a functioning power button I thought a laptop PSU and jack would be sufficient but I'm not an electrical engineer or master of wires and circuit boards so I would have no idea where to begin on attaching it and hooking up all of the components.

Edit: nvm, but I did find out that it should be possible to fit in the power supply - get a small one though, like micro atx or something like that. Gut it as so the power supply is bare without its caseing then house it into the nes case

i'm not sure if I'll be able to do that. It would have to be under 3" in two dimensions.
NES is 10"w x 8"l x 3.5"h
MOBO is 6.7" x 6.7"
the smallest PSU I could find with the right wattage is this one. at 4.8" x 3.8" x 2.5" It's a bit too big. plus there will be a hard drive floating above it.

could I daisy chain a few of those picoPSUs? that would be sufficient.

edit: nm. it's an 8pin. mobo is 24

Just buy an adapter, or solder the correct wires to the right spots. Unless you need some weird voltages.

no the extra pins are for more power, still can use a 8 pin n 4 pin cpu, just like if you had a straight 24 pin mobo power connector, but only had a 20 pin, the extra pins just hang off.

well I guess I can just gut one. I was really hoping for an external power supply because I need some room for fans but that seems to be my only option.

yea that to, best suggestion i would say is find something that hides probally behind the nes so everything isn't shown but good arflow, idk, ill see what i can find tomorow
