Trying a wireless duke soon, some suggestions?

Post by MountainMotor »

Alright, I'm gonna try a wireless duke soon. I'm debating on whether to make it with 360 compatibility or PS3 compatibility? The thing I'm having trouble picturing is what to do with the shoulder buttons on the 360 controller or the R1/L1 on the DS3. The duke had the black and white buttons instead. Anyone have any ideas?

Talk to RDC, he is a member here and on numerous other forums. He has already completed this mod and will (probably) be more than willing to give you a hand.

What's wrong with just using the B&W buttons for the LB/RB or L1/R1? If you're using the Duke then ya probably prefer it's layout, which has the B&W buttons. The size of the Duke doesn't really lend itself to making up shoulder buttons for it, nor does it really have a good spot for them.

You'll probably have more luck getting a PS3 controller crammed in there versus a Wireless 360 one, especially if ya plan to keep the Duke controller board intact for the button contacts. If ya would want to go Wired, the CL version 360 controller can be hacked down to practically nothing and fit in there very easily.

I was leaning toward the DS3 conversion just because I'm fine with having the 360 controller but I don't really care for the feel of the DS3. I'm just worried about the b/w buttons because if I'm playing something like Infamous that has L1/R1 as the main aim/shoot then I'd have my hands over to one side of the controller trying to aim and shoot.

In that case ya toss in a couple of DPDT switches so ya can swap the B&W buttons with the Triggers to get around that game's cruddy controller layout. ;)
